16 years of commitment to the UN Global Compact - Réseau France

A new chapter will be turning for ARMOR GROUP on Thursday 30 May, with the official end of its term of office on the Board of Directors of the UN Global Compact French Network. This is an opportunity to look back at his involvement in the French Global Compact network over the last six years, while confirming his ongoing commitment as a member.

A Global Compact to unite around social and environmental issues
The Global Compact is a United Nations (UN) initiative launched in 2000 to encourage companies around the world to adopt socially responsible conduct by committing to integrate and promote a number of principles relating to human rights, international labour standards, the environment and the fight against corruption. Although primarily aimed at the business world, the Global Compact also encourages the participation of civil society, professional organisations, universities and any other organisation.

ARMOR GROUP's commitment
ARMOR GROUP joined the initiative in 2008, five years after the launch of the French network of the UN Global Compact. ‘Our membership of the Global Compact - France Network coincided with the launch of our CSR approach. It reflected our concern for socially equitable, environmentally safe and economically efficient development, as well as the requirements of some of our customers. It was also a real source of inspiration, because by taking part in the programme, companies commit to integrating the Ten Principles of the Global Compact, or the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), into their operational practices. At ARMOR GROUP, our CSR strategy is based more specifically on 6 issues inspired by the SDGs: governance and ethics, circular economy, renewable energies, responsible traceability, employee development and local solidarity", says Hubert de Boisredon, Chairman and CEO of ARMOR GROUP.

After a dozen years as a member, ARMOR GROUP was elected in 2018 for a renewable three-year term to the Board of Directors of the Global Compact - France Network, whose role is to drive the global strategy at national level.

‘ARMOR GROUP is a company that has a rightful place in our initiative, which we want to be as representative as possible. As a medium-sized company with deep roots in its local area, it generates 80% of its sales outside France. As a result, the Group has a strong ability to forge links with local stakeholders, for whom the Global Compact provides a common language. His contribution as a member of our Board of Directors has also been invaluable", says Nils Pedersen, Managing Director of the Global Compact - France Network.

The 2024-2030 Plan
As a member of the Board of Directors, ARMOR GROUP worked on the brand new 2024-2030 strategic plan. The aim: to clarify and synthesise the mission of transforming business models by taking account of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.To achieve this, the initiative is based on four pillars - informing, equipping, mobilising and enlightening - which it then breaks down into action plans.

‘Through its UN identity, the Global Compact - France Network aims to become a genuine reference resource centre on sustainable development and CSR issues, in order to provide companies with the best possible support. We need to bring more people together, while relying on our members' capacity for action, to support the transformation of business models. We are a key contact for both the private sector and public authorities, and we are in a position to unite all stakeholders committed to a voluntary approach to sustainability,’ concludes Nils Pedersen, Managing Director of the French Network.
